Is Van Life Vegan Friendly?

There are a few reasons why we think it is. Vegan food isn’t accessible everywhere, no one just wants to order French Fries and Salads, especially on the road. It’s great to able to have a fridge and/or food storage along with an area to prepare food. You’re saving money along with having to eat the food you want!

One of the hardest things about being a Vegan is attending social gatherings that involve eating, where the majority are Non-Vegan and you’re the only Vegan. Attending a restaurant to meet friends becomes stressful trying to figure out what to order as a meal. The food selection for someone that excludes animal products from their food intake decreases drastically a typical All-American restaurant. Being that we have a fridge, dry food storage, and a stove; we’re able to prepare and eat our food anywhere. Depending on the situation we’ll eat beforehand in the van or take food to the gathering.

Plant-based foods are easier to store in a van because they don’t have to be kept at certain temperatures such as meat and dairy products. You’re able to use less energy with your fridge since fruits and veggies can be stored at varying temperatures. Some plant-based foods don’t have to be stored in a refrigerator at all.

Some people say being on a plant-based diet is expensive; but, since you’re not paying rent by living in a van you can afford to pay for slightly more expensive food.
